MetaTrader 5 Platform Overview

System Requirements and Installation

The MetaTrader 5 platform requires Windows 7 or above with at least 1GB RAM and 1.5GB of free disk space. macOS users need version 10.12 or later with similar specifications. Mobile applications support Android 4.0+ and iOS 9.0+ devices. After registering an account on FxPro, Indian traders can download the platform installer directly from the dashboard. Separate installation files are available for desktop and mobile devices via official app stores.

Our Mumbai data center automatically routes users to the nearest server, ensuring low latency. On first launch, MetaTrader 5 downloads historical price data for selected instruments. A stable internet connection of at least 1 Mbps is recommended for real-time data streaming. The platform typically consumes 50MB of data per active trading hour, so having a backup internet source is beneficial during high volatility periods.

Desktop Installation Process

Log into the FxPro client area and locate the download section for MetaTrader 5. Select the correct installer for your operating system—Windows or macOS. Download the executable and run it with administrator privileges on Windows. Follow the installation wizard, agreeing to terms, and choose the installation path or accept defaults.

Once installed, desktop shortcuts and start menu entries are created automatically. Launch the platform using the desktop shortcut. Input your FxPro account number and password when prompted to connect to the Mumbai server.

Mobile App Setup

Open Google Play Store or Apple App Store on your device and search for “MetaTrader 5” by MetaQuotes Software Corp. Install the official app. Upon opening, tap the plus icon to add a new account. Select “Login to an existing account” and search for FxPro servers. Choose “FxPro-Live” for real accounts or “FxPro-Demo” for practice.

Enter your account credentials to synchronize all account data. Enable push notifications for trade alerts, margin calls, and price notifications directly on your smartphone or tablet.

Account Configuration and Server Connection

Raw+ accounts offer variable spreads beginning from 0.0 pips with commission fees applied on each trade. Selecting the base currency as INR helps minimize forex conversion costs, with all profit and loss displayed in this currency for clarity.

Server Selection and Login

Upon launching MetaTrader 5, open the login window and search for FxPro servers. Choose the appropriate server based on account type. Enter your login credentials and connect to the server. Connection status and latency are displayed at the bottom of the platform window.

Security Settings

Change your account password through the platform’s security menu for enhanced protection. Enable two-factor authentication via the FxPro dashboard for additional security layers. Investor passwords can be shared for read-only access without risking trade execution rights.

Trading Interface and Chart Analysis

The Market Watch window lists all available trading instruments with real-time quotes updated continuously during market hours. Right-clicking any instrument allows quick order placement or adding it to a favorites list. The main chart area supports multiple layout arrangements with up to 21 timeframes for detailed analysis.

The Navigator panel contains Expert Advisors, custom indicators, and scripts. Users can drag EAs onto charts and adjust parameters as needed. Technical Indicator Configuration

Access indicators via the Insert menu or toolbar. Over 80 indicators are available, including RSI, MACD, and Bollinger Bands, popular among Indian traders. Customize parameters such as periods and colors by double-clicking indicator lines on charts. Users can save templates to apply indicator combinations quickly. Advanced traders can create custom indicators using MQL5.

Order Placement and Execution

Orders can be placed by right-clicking charts or using the New Order button. Market orders execute within 12-15 milliseconds on average. For uninterrupted operation, FxPro offers VPS hosting that runs EAs 24/5 even if your device goes offline. VPS is recommended for complex algorithms requiring constant market monitoring. The Strategy Tester allows backtesting EAs using historical data and optimization via genetic algorithms to improve settings before live deployment.

MQL5 Programming Environment

Access the MQL5 editor from the Tools menu or by pressing F4. It includes syntax highlighting, debugging, and extensive documentation.
